FermionIC and Tata Electronics Partner to Advance India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 12: FermionIC Design Pvt. Ltd., a fabless RFIC design company located in Bangalore, announced today a new strategic partnership with Tata Electronics. The collaboration is focused on advanced wafer-level testing, packaging, and post-silicon validation. This alliance will help ramp up the production of FermionIC’s indigenous and proprietary 4-Channel X-Band Beamformer IC, which was created specifically for modern TDD Phased Array Antennas.

The FD3R4411 Beamformer IC is a groundbreaking first for India, marking a major milestone for the nation’s semiconductor and radar technology industries. This chip enables the creation of smaller, high-performance phased array systems, which are essential for applications like ranging radars, imaging radars, and advanced surveillance platforms. With its adoption by a variety of public and private sector organizations, the IC is significantly boosting India’s capacity to build its own indigenous phased array radar solutions.

As part of this agreement, Tata Electronics will act as the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner. They will provide services including flip-chip ball grid array (FcBGA) assembly and wafer-level testing. This partnership between FermionIC Design and Tata Electronics highlights the increasing collaboration between India’s semiconductor design innovators and their advanced manufacturing partners.

“Our partnership with Tata Electronics allows us to move this complex, fully ‘Made in India’ IC from the design stage to phased volume production on an accelerated timeline starting in Q4 2025,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of FermionIC Design. “This collaboration also ensures that almost the entire manufacturing value chain is kept within India.”
