Vladivostok [Russia], September 2: During the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 (EEF-2026), Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank, revealed that the bank has acquired two Summit Towers business centers in New Delhi. The deal marks a key step in expanding the infrastructural presence of Sber and Russian businesses in India.
The acquisition of the properties in the Indian capital will provide a new base for long-term cooperation. Sber continues to strengthen its presence in India, and this investment forms part of that ongoing strategy.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“We are continuing to expand our presence in India, including in the real estate sector. Recently, we acquired two business centers (Summit Towers) in New Delhi. The two major towers in central Delhi, situated next to the World Trade Center, are expected to be completed by 2028. We will establish a center for Russian-Indian cooperation here – creating a new infrastructural base for the presence of Russian businesses in India. We invite Russian companies to become partners and join us.”
Earlier, the executive stressed Sber’s intention to continue actively developing payment instruments and introducing AI solutions in India in 2027, reinforcing its position as the leading provider of bilateral payments between the two countries.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“Over the last year, we have seen notable improvements both in banking services and in new areas of business. More than 90% of payments from Russia to India are now processed in less than 10 minutes (compared with 60% a year earlier), while over one-third of payments are completed within 60 seconds. In practical terms, if you make a transaction while speaking with an Indian colleague on a call, the payment can be debited from the Russian company and credited to the Indian partner during the same conversation. Payments between the two countries are handled very quickly, clearly, efficiently, and with a low commission. This is another strong bridge supporting the further development of our relations.”
